light weights only

This cushion is great for a small person. I weigh 250 lbs and when I tried it out it compressed together. My wife weighs 105 lbs and it is great for her. It was bought for her so it works out okay.

Wheelchair cushion; did not meet expectations

Could be a bit firmer foam something to offer relief but not compress so easily. Being used by someone who is approximately 160 lbs...I don't think this is the best cushion for pressure sore relief....jell cushion might be better. This cushion already is starting to compress and not bounce back to it's original thickness. Better than nothing for now but I am still looking.

Don't waste your money

Had cushion for two weeks and its already flatten. I have bought several cushion before from other companies, this one is the worse.

I got this for my 98 year old grandfather who seems to need lots of cushions - has a skinny butt. He likes it very much and uses it most of the time (on the couch, on the padded office chair...). We've had it about a month so I can't speak for longevity. I wish I had gotten one sooner. Very happy with it.

Consider a color other than dark blue for cushion

Consider purchasing two cushions--one for the occupant's sitting position as well as one for the back. Although the dark blue cover of the cushion normally blends in well with the wheelchair, in the dark area of a car's trunk or an airline luggage/storage hole, it can easily be separated from the chair. (It is recommended that the cushions be taken onto the bus/airplane and not be stored with the wheelchair in order not to be lost.)
A bright colored cushion cover will tend to remind one to take care of the cushions.

Does the job for my part-time use

This works great when trying to save the coccyx. I only use it part time, so it springs back every time and does the job of keeping the tailbone from hurting.

Great for pregnancy

I am pregnant with twins and have started having problems with my tail bone when sitting on my chair at work. Getting a new chair was not an option. I had tried a donut cushion which helped a little bit, but didn't provide enough relief and started making my back ache. I remembered that gel cushions were recommended to some friends of mine that have spinal cord injuries. I thought I'd give this a try. This cushion is wonderful. It was well worth the cost. I can now comfortably sit at my desk once again without tail bone or back aches, making this pregnancy a little more smooth. I would recommend that anyone suffering from tailbone issues try this cushion.

good cushion

Doc recommended a gel cushion. Tried that, not much relief. Ordered these for my hard chairs and have been very pleased. Bony butt is feeling better!

Works Well, Although...

Works well enough, although I could have bought a covered foam cushion pad - basically a chair cushion - from Wal-Mart for $7-$9 that probably works just as well. That's what we used before for years.

My father's had a stroke and can't talk or communicate well but he seems to be satisfied with this product. He's 190 lbs and in his chair alot, so he'd find a way to tell me if he wasn't.

The product retains its shape when not used and shrinks when sat on: it gets surprisingly thin. I've tried it myself and its comfortable but obviously everyone has their own comfort standard so I could easily see someone being disappointed their 3.5 inch cushion compresses to an inch.

I'm glad I have the product but if asked I'd say try a WalMart cushion first.

Comfy Pad

I found this pad to be very comfortable. It is a good value for the price. I only recently went into a wheelchair and the pad definitely makes it easier to ride in it for long periods of time. I also love the color it makes my chair easy to find. If you want something bright and cheery and comfotable I would recommend this pad.

Since this is a "one per customer" product, I had to find a new supplier due to frequent soaking/soiling and the need to have quick replacements at hand while caregiving Alzheimer's family member.

Turned out to be a good thing despite the initial inconvenience as I found a comparable cushion w/cover that was non-red (better as the red bleeds when wet).

I bought this item for my son's Barton Chair so he had a better "fit". He smiled from ear to ear when we sat him down in this soft, cushy "throne". Stays put without sagging. Better than I anticipated.

Cool, comfortable, and a great value for a gel pillow

I'm currently confined to a wheelchair, and it was strongly recommended by my occupational therapist that I get a gel cushion for my wheelchair, since the standard cushions don't really support long hours sitting up in the wheelchair.

I looked online and found many kinds, but they were all very pricey. At least 50% more than this one, some of them 300% of this price (3x) Maybe there's something less in this one, but I have yet to figure out what it is.

For added support and comfort, I got myself a donut pillow over the standard foam cushion, but if you sit wrong on it or aren't centered, that combination can get painful, Correctly adjusted, the donut/foam combination can be quite comfortable.

Where this shines:
- The gel doesn't require any precise sitting
- It's as comfortable to sit on as the donut-foam combination done right
- The gel is always cooling to the bottom. I think this allows me to sit on the wheelchair far longer than I otherwise could. In turn, I can do a full day's worth of work and that's important.

Where it doesn't, but I don't mind:
- The cushion is far heavier than the standard foam. 8 lb can knock out people. Not a problem for me, it can sit under me for a long time
- The securing strap has to be undone if the wheelchair is folded for transport. Not dinging it any stars for this.

I purchased this cushion for my mom. It is comfortable and durable and isn't breaking down like the last purchase. She is in a wheelchair most of the day, and this makes a big difference for her comfort.

My son is in a wheelchair and he needs extra seat support. This product is good for a regular chair but is too high for a wheelchair. My son sits too high up and also the center leg strap cannot work because the cushion goes too far forward as well. Good cushion but not for a wheelchair.

this cushion has functioned well. it has stopped the pain in the hips and soreness in top of legs. the only fault i can see with it is the bottom side of cover which is of a stiff vinyl .
