Very nice pad
I purchased this pad along with a transport chair for my mother, and she raved about how comfortable it is. Really nice quality, too.

These cushions provide optimal pressure relief and comfort for all-day sitting. The cushion works by distributing the patient's body weight evenly. The gel cushion gives patients an especially stable feeling, because the gel is similar to a patient's adipose tissue (fat layers). The gel is very thick and minimizes leakage, even if the cushion is punctured. Cushion is very durable and easy to clean.

Wheelchair Gel Pad
I am very happy with the gel pad. It makes sitting in the wheelchair for long periods of time much more comfortable.

Horrible Chemical Odor
First one I bought had a bad chemical odor, gave me a bit of a headache now and then, I put too much water in it without warning I tried to remove the water by putting salt in and it made the gel mushy and it kept coming out of the pad. I bought a second one to get it right, and didn't use as much water, and though it feels better in a way, it came out lumpy, and ironically the overwatered pad has more cushioning, because there is more water in it, but the one that I didn't use as much water in, conforms better. There's a way to solve a big problem with this pad, but since I'm not being paid for product solutions, I'm keeping quiet about it.

Comfortable
I purchased this cushion for my wheelchair bound mother. She has found it very comfortable. I have one problem with it. It's shipped flat with just gell-pellets in it. You have to fill it with water to activate the gell. You are instructed to keep the cushion flat while filling it with water. I managed to do this by placing it on a large tray. It became very hard to hold up to the faucet getting heavier and heavier as it filled. I also was never able to get the water into the corners no matter how hard I tried. All-in-all it is a good, comfortable cushion once you get it filled.

Great Cushion
I bought this cushion for my Dad who has a tendency to get a pressure sore on his coccyx. He came home from the hospital recently and this is the same cushion they used. He really likes it and it works great to releive pressure.
I agree with the comment that it is a bit difficult to fill and that it gets heavy as you do so. It is hard to hold onto it with only one hand while shutting off the water with the other, but somehow I got it done and since I was doing it for my Dad, it was worth the effort.
With regards to the comment about the instrucions not saying anything about the gel getting ruined after adding salt, if you look at the instructions again, they clearly say...and I am quoting directly from the instuctions..."Note: This is a single use product." Meaning that once you add the salt, the original pellets and the water you added yourself all convert to water. Once you drain it, it is empty...no water...no pellets...nothing.
I am wondering, however, why can't we simply just buy and then add some more of the dry pellets? Why only single use? Let's say you wanted to take this pillow with you somewhere...say visiting family on a Holiday or any other day...maybe even on vacation. You may not want to bring the pillow with you filled with water because it is heavy. Why can't you simply drain it using the salt method to turn the pellets into water, drain it, then when you get to where you are going...add more pellets and refill? Seems reasonable to me. Just a thought.

Great support but very slippery
I got this cushion for my dad to use in his wheelchair and in regular arm chairs. It is great in the wheelchair. Super comfortable, very dense gel cushion which really distributes the weight well. The cushion itself is surprisingly heavy and has a handle loop on the side to help carry it. The bottom of the cushion has a slightly rubbery feel which helps it grip the chair and keeps it from shifting, while the blue top cover is more like a windbreaker material which is very slippery so it is easy for him to shift his weight. HOWEVER, when this cushion is in a regular chair, as he leans a bit over the table to eat, the cushion compresses so his butt starts to slide forward. For now, we will only be using this in his wheelchair - but it is a great cushion.
