The gel cushion gives patients an especially stable feeling, because the gel is similar to a patient's adipose tissue (fat layers). The gel is very thick and minimizes leakage, even if the cushion is punctured. Cushion is very durable and easy to clean.

Comfortable

I purchased this cushion for my wheelchair bound mother. She has found it very comfortable. I have one problem with it. It's shipped flat with just gell-pellets in it. You have to fill it with water to activate the gell. You are instructed to keep the cushion flat while filling it with water. I managed to do this by placing it on a large tray. It became very hard to hold up to the faucet getting heavier and heavier as it filled. I also was never able to get the water into the corners no matter how hard I tried. All-in-all it is a good, comfortable cushion once you get it filled.

My son is in a wheelchair and he needs extra seat support. This product is good for a regular chair but is too high for a wheelchair. My son sits too high up and also the center leg strap cannot work because the cushion goes too far forward as well. Good cushion but not for a wheelchair.

Cool, comfortable, and a great value for a gel pillow

I'm currently confined to a wheelchair, and it was strongly recommended by my occupational therapist that I get a gel cushion for my wheelchair, since the standard cushions don't really support long hours sitting up in the wheelchair.

I looked online and found many kinds, but they were all very pricey. At least 50% more than this one, some of them 300% of this price (3x) Maybe there's something less in this one, but I have yet to figure out what it is.

For added support and comfort, I got myself a donut pillow over the standard foam cushion, but if you sit wrong on it or aren't centered, that combination can get painful, Correctly adjusted, the donut/foam combination can be quite comfortable.

Where this shines:
- The gel doesn't require any precise sitting
- It's as comfortable to sit on as the donut-foam combination done right
- The gel is always cooling to the bottom. I think this allows me to sit on the wheelchair far longer than I otherwise could. In turn, I can do a full day's worth of work and that's important.

Where it doesn't, but I don't mind:
- The cushion is far heavier than the standard foam. 8 lb can knock out people. Not a problem for me, it can sit under me for a long time
- The securing strap has to be undone if the wheelchair is folded for transport. Not dinging it any stars for this.

worst, run away ....

bought this on the false impression is was something else. the seller changed the title so my original review is off.
nonetheless. it is cheap egg foam, very thin, it has an ok cover. it is a lame product, they charge about $30 with handling and shipping ... can't believe they charge so much for it. useless product.

Handy, comfortable cushion

I ordered this for my son who is in a wheelchair whenever I take him out. This cushion has made it much easier for him to be comfortable for long periods of time in his wheelchair. I've had this product for about six months now and it has held up very well thus far. A great value, especially considering the affordable price.
